What’s happening in Serie A?

Where is the Italian top league after ten rounds?

One thing is certain in Serie A: this is no longer Napoli’s year. Gone is the excitement of last season, the confidence that Osimhen displayed, or that terrible lust for fame of the Georgian nicknamed Kvaradona, after Diego Armando Maradona, who at Napoli has left the ranks of legendary footballers and naturally joined the ranks of the saints.

Napoli remains a force in Serie A (they’re currently in 5th place), but all the big traditional teams – Inter, Juventus, AC Milan – are having formidable seasons. Napoli couldn’t even manage to beat an AC Milan side where Pioli can’t find an antidote and wake up the players.

It looks like the final battle for the scudetto will be between Inter and Juventus, with Inter being the more balanced team. Juventus, in its new guise, with Max Allegri ready to abandon the sobriety imposed by the suit, is also strong. They have moved on from Pogba’s doping scandal, are trying to get closer to the top, but it’s been so long since they’ve been there that the strong air of the heights still unsettles the Piedmontese.

Fiorentina’s surprise and Roma’s miscues

Fiorentina, Atalanta, Roma and Lazio will also be gunning for a European Cup spot. It’s worth to be noted Fiorentina’s determination, Lazio’s twilight of the gods with Immobile ready to shine, and especially Mourinho’s Roma’s poor season. The excitement of the past years has disappeared from Roma’s game. The great Portuguese seems to have run out of solutions, resources.

There are very few teams in Serie A that you can say will be carefree. Maybe Bologna. Maybe Sassuolo (the kind of teams that can mess and lose with anyone). Maybe, AC Torino and even Monza too.

Who will relegate?

The relegation battle will be a close one again this year. Salernitana and Cagliari look like favorites among the casualties.

The worst team in Serie A so far is Salernitana. They have not won a game in ten attempts. With those numbers, you can’t hope for anything other than a relegation to Serie B that still retains a shred of decency, that doesn’t totally resemble a shipwreck.

Avoiding the third relegation spot (where Udinese are for now) will be a truly epic battle. Anyone can fall there: from Frosinone to Empoli.

In Serie A, in the games at the bottom of the standings, every point will count double, and any bet placed on games in this area must be weighed carefully, carefully, two-three times.
